Blue Anchor - the hamlet of Blue Anchor is two miles eastwards along the bay, there are two pubs; The Blue Anchor Inn and on the seafront The Smugglers Inn, where the food is recommended and children are catered for. There are also two cafés and a village shop.

Home Farm is a small working farm open to visitors on the seafront. Freshly baked scones can be enjoyed in the tea room whilst children can play in the large sandpit or with the toys provided.

Inland from Blue Anchor is Binham Grange, a Jacobean farm house who serve coffee, afternoon tea and evening meals in a beautiful setting of landscaped gardens and wide country views. exmoor-restaurant.co.uk

Dunster - restaurants, pubs, gift and antique shops, can be found only a mile away.

Minehead - a farmers market is held on Friday at The Avenue in the centre of Minehead from 8.30am to 2.30pm, it provides a great opportunity to buy fresh local produce. The town has many shops, two small supermarkets, banks, chemists, restaurants and takeaways. Gerald David a traditional West Country butcher, with a deli and fish shop can be found in Park Steet, near The Avenue. Also, Stuart Lowen quality butchers and farm shop is in Hawksworth Road, close to Tesco.

Tesco - from the Chalet Park, return to the A39 and turn right. At the first roundabout, turn right into Seaward Way where a large Tesco superstore with 24 hour filling station, can be found about half a mile along this road.
